We Had The Chance To Interview Music Artist Septimius The Great And Talk About His Experience Being An Entertainer.
DSR: How old were you when you developed an interest in becoming a music artist?
DSR: So you’re from the DMV area. How is it to be an indie music artist in the DMV?
Septimius: I’m From Baltimore and being from DMV seems to make a music artist under estimated until given the platform to show the world and then and only then we become the newest and hottest thing on the scene. Even though we have been kicking out great artists and music for years past.
DSR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?
Septimius: International Dance music with a fusion of Hip Hop, Pop, Rock and some opera
DSR: What influences shaped your musical style?
Septimius: Prince, Lady Gaga and Will.I.am
DSR: As a music artist, if you had to put yourself into a genre or create your own, what would it be called?
Septimius: Dance Music or the new termed Hip Pop
DSR: Who is in charge of writing the songs?
Septimius: I write about 80% of my songs but recently have been collaborating with other writers for more variety as a music artist.
DSR: As a music artist, where do you draw your inspiration from?
Septimius: I draw my inspiration from the history of the real Septimius Severus (first African roman emperor) and other than that its sex, fell good, curiosity and sadness.
DSR: So, we all know you’re a singer, but you’re also a songwriter. What’s the easiest kind of song for you to write?
Septimius: Something sexual is easy but also Heartache
DSR: Being an established music artist in the DMV area, what is your main goal at this point?
Septimius: To be nominated for a World Music Awards, Grammy or BET award.
Septimius: Still putting out singles that makes a person want to dance but most importantly – traveling the world and experiencing different people, cultures and lands.
DSR: Tell us about the musical giants who profoundly inspired you, such as a music artist like Marvin Gaye, Steve Wonder (the Black artist awarded the most Grammys), and Michael Jackson.
Septimius: Prince for his original sound, look and mystery, Lady Gaga for her boldness and ability to transform and make the public buy into it. Will.I.Am for his mind, keen ear for music, originality and creativeness. All this factors make an artist memorable, long standing, awarded, admired, and looked up to.
DSR: Are there any music artist(s) you wish to work with in the future?
Septimius: Pitbull, and Flo Rida,
DSR: If you could create your dream tour, which music artist(s) would be a part of it?
Septimius: Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Prince and Pitbull
DSR: Have you learned any lessons so far being a music artist and if so, what are they?
Septimius: 1. Never trust a fast talker that drops names. 2. Always research a person’s background before your follow them. 3. Stay original and don’t compromise your idea but allow qualified mentors to help mold your idea to newer heights in your career. 4. Never expect fame and fortune to come to you but instead go to it and pursue it like a stalker. 5. Invest in your craft and it will pay back 10 fold.
DSR: Are you working on any projects at the moment?
Septimius: Yes, currently working on the release of a new single monthly, along with a video and stay on a year-long worldwide promo tour to stay relevant and innovative.

Septimius: Accept feedback, criticism and adversity because within it all is a lesson to be learned and grow from.
