FEATURED ARTIST: YOODA

yooda

DSR: How old were you when you developed an interest in music?

Yooda: Wow I was about 6

DSR: What was your earliest musical memory? What formed your love of music in your head?

Yooda: I seen Michael Jackson thiller video. Scared me half to death!!!! After that I was pretending to be Michael R.I.P

DSR: Let’s get to know a little more about you and how you grew up. What was it like in your hometown? What kind of kid were you?

yoodaYooda: Well Im from Miami, Fl. Most people think about south beach when they hear Miami! But I grew up in the hood. Many hoods, South Miami, Carol City, Liberty City & Richmond Heights. I’ve done everything negative you can think of. Weed, Cocaine, Dead bodies. Everything!!! I was a horrible child. I didn’t listen to no one but Grandma and Mama. Sperm Donor left when I was 2. He was a player!!! I love Miami I know it made me the man I am today. I wouldn’t change it for nothing not one ass whooping.. Got plenty of them. I stayed in trouble always getting into something. Running the streets!!! Running from the police. Never got caught!!! Those were the days!!!!! Memories.

DSR: So let’s talk about your music. How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?

Yooda: My sound is like sex to a virgin! Amazing!!!! It keeps you wanting more. I have content in my songs. Ya grandma can understand it!!!!

DSR: What is the significance of your name?

Yooda: Well my name came from the Star Wars character. Like him I’m a master at what I do. If you look at Yoda he laid back until it’s time to get down to business. I’m the same way. You see me in the street, the club or the mall I’m chillin. Get me on stage and all hell breaks loose!!!! I go hard!

DSR: There’s a part of the industry that irks me the most, where great music gets overlooked because it doesn’t fit a mold. How frustrating is that for you, if people seem to think that you don’t have that sound for radio?yooda

Yooda: It’s very frustrating because I’m a fan of music first. There are a lot of artist who get over looked mainly because of production. They’re hot artist but their production is crap. So no one wants to listen. As for me I don’t worry about fitting in. I’m make my own path. This train is at low speed & moving faster than most. Wait til I really turn it up!

DSR: What do you think needs to be brought to music in this decade and how do you plan to add to that?

Yooda: Content!!! Most music you hear today has no content. If you listen real close. You’ll be like what in the hell is he talking about. Every lyric that comes out of my head has a real personal meaning to it. That the average fan can relate to.

DSR: What do you think of the music that came out in the last decade?

Yooda: Lol it was ok. I’ve heard a lot better songs from underground artist then these main stream artist!

DSR: How would you rate the music that your music competes against in your local area?

Yooda: I rate it bout a 9 or 8 Mines being a 12 or 13 lol.

DSR: Have you learned any lessons so far and if so, what are they?

Yooda: Yes keep grinding and never let anybody tell you. You can’t make it and always believe in yourself.

DSR: Do you write all of your own material? And if so, are you working on any new projects or have any projects that you are promoting right now?

Yooda: Yes I write all my material. I can’t accept no one else writing then it would be fairly tail at lease to me! I’m in the lab now completing my Extreme Measure album! Going to be a motion picture project. when it’s done. As of right now I’m promoting my album that drop March 15, 2011 called “Return of Da Shotta” Go get that now!!!!!

DSR: Where can the people find you performing or attend the events you are involved in?

Yooda: Man I’m performing everywhere the fans want me. You can check out dates and place at www.junkyardent.com that’s my official website.

DSR: Where can we find your music online and offline?

yoodaYooda: iTune, Amazon, Mp3.com, Zune, where ever you buy music online. Yooda is there!!!

DSR: We ask all Artists that we interview, what’s the best piece of advice that someone has ever given to you?

Yooda: The best piece of advice I got was I’ll never make it!! It made me go harder. I love naysayers.

DSR: Is there anything else that you would like to include in closing of this interview?
