The Flyboyz gave us some insight on their style of music, who writes their music and what inspired them to get involved in music.

Here’s the interview from the Flyboyz discussing their music.

DSR: Who are the members of the Flyboyz?

Flyboyz: There are two main members of Flyboyz, Teflon and Tosha

DSR: What is the significance of your names?

Tosha: I make the haters say “Touché” because they said I will never make it.

Teflon:  Teflon has always been my nickname since I was a little kid, so it’s just something that I’ve always been known as.

DSR: When and how did each one of you begin your journey into the world of music?

Teflon:  I began my music career when one of my classmates at school asked me to record a song with him, and people loved it. So after that, I continued to write music.

Tosha: I couldn’t play football because of my grades, so I began writing music and people had great reaction to my songs.

DSR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it before?

Flyboyz: We would describe our music as positive, upbeat party music with very unique beats.

DSR: What influences shaped your musical style?

Flyboyz: Everybody likes to have a good time, so we make music that will always keep people in a fun and happy mood.

DSR: We all know that you are a group, but I’m sure the group is also songwriters. What’s the easiest kind of song for you to write?

Tosha: Songs about girls are the easiest for me to write.
Flyboyz: Love songs are the easiest for me to write

DSR: Who is in charge of writing the songs? Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Flyboyz: We both take part in writing our songs, so we each write our own verses and come up with the hooks together. We are inspired by seeing our fans reactions, other music, and trying to live our dreams of being famous.

DSR: I noticed you just released a lot of music. What was your inspiration behind this?”

Flyboyz: We had a lot of fans who kept pushing us and telling us that they wanted new material, so we gave them what they wanted.

DSR: Let’s get to know a little bit more about Flyboyz.  What area do you call your hometown and what type of following do you have?

Flyboyz: We both call our hometown Clearwater, Florida, but Tosha moved an hour away about a year ago. But Clearwater is still his hometown and always will be. We have a very strong but diverse teenage following.

DSR: What is the group’s main goal at this point? Where do you possibly see yourself 5-10 years from now?

Flyboyz: Our main goal is to make it all the way to the top. In 5 years from now, I see us being a well known name is the music industry.

DSR: Are you working on any projects at the moment?

Flyboyz: We are currently working on our mixtape N.A.B.B., which stands for not another boy band and will be released sometime in 2012.

DSR: Where can we catch the Flyboyz blessing the mic?

Flyboyz: You can catch us performing at clubs and venues all over the bay area, and even some other parts of Florida.

DSR: What do you think needs to be brought to music in this decade and how do you plan to add to that?

We think this decade needs more positive music and we plan on doing this by continuing what were doing, which is making quality music with a positive message that everyone can listen to.

DSR: We ask all the artists we interview, what’s the best piece of advice someone’s ever given to you?

Flyboyz: To always follow our dreams no matter what haters say.

We wish the Flyboyz much success in their music careers and will tell them to keep pushing.
